Showreel 2017-2023

On 4 August 2011, Mark Duggan was shot to death by police in Tottenham, north London, after undercover officers forced the minicab in which he was travelling to pull over. The circumstances of his death resulted in public protests that led to conflict with police, escalated to riots and spread to towns and cities across the country.

FA was commissioned by the Duggan family's lawyers to reconstruct the scene of his death as a navigable digital environment and, within that environment, to illustrate and interrogate the testimonies of the officers involved in the shooting.

For this investigation I focused on the released footage taken by one of the witnesses: I did the research synthesis, image stabilisation and matching, 3D modelling and animation, rigging, visual analysis and motion capture. The footage was used in the previous investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC, now: Independent Office for Police Conduct). Through careful analysis of visual material this part of investigation exposed limitations of the medium and ultimately exposed the faults in the IPCC's interpretation of the footage.
