The 2011 Syrian revolution was the first uprising filmed simultaneously by its own participants using camera phones. 'Homs You’re in Our Hearts' is a short film, over two screens, that uses the phone camera footage of those participants to reconstruct key aspects of the uprising’s visual and material culture. The project places the methods of digital forensic reconstruction in the service of the preservation of the disobedient objects, art and songs of social movement cultures. The focus of the film’s attention was directed by extensive interviews with Syrian people with lived experience of the uprising. Quotations in the film reproduce some of their recollections.
